On the last day of school, Walnut Springs hosted its annual boat race at Highlands Pool.  Sixth grade student Gabe Ryjewski rowed his class to victory by finishing in just over one minute.  His teacher, Kim Neal, will display the trophy in her room until next year’s race.

Pupils spent the last few days of school collaborating with their peers to make boats out of recycled materials.  Each competing class received duct tape and a few items from their teachers.  Students had to research and choose a design, and then build the boat as a class – a true test of teamwork.
