Gaga pits, bounce houses, basketball, volleyball, Skyline Chili cheese dogs, Kona ice…the list of what 271 Blendon Middle School students were able to enjoy at their 3rd Quarter Renaissance Celebration goes on and on.  Pupils who met stringent goals in academic achievement, community service, attendance, attitude, and school spirit, were treated to a day of fun at Hoff Woods Park on May 15, courtesy of the Blendon PTO.   Games2U provided games and Kona Ice supplied the cool treats.  As a special reward, Skyline Chili donated free chili cheese coneys for all students and staff members.

Each quarter, qualifying students earn a day of fun and recognition that starts with receiving a certificate for their achievements at an assembly.  They also have the opportunity to win a variety of wonderful raffle prizes donated by local businesses and PTO parents, including Renaissance T-shirts from the Blendon principal, gift cards from Cheryl’s Cookies, Chiller Ice Rink, Cold Stone Creamery, Dairy Queen, Donato’s Pizza, Little Caesar’s, Marcus Theatres, Scrambler’s Marie, Skate Zone 71, Turkey Hill Convenience Stores, Westerville Recreation Center, and even former Blendon parent, Carla Tedeschi.  The Grand Prize this quarter was a Kindle Fire Tablet.

Following the awards presentation, youngsters spent the rest of the day at the park.  This marks the 8th school year for the Blendon Renaissance Awards Program, which would not be possible without the continued support of local and national business partners, Blendon parents, and the Blendon PTO.
