Professional musician and teacher Mick Broderick is giving mandolin lessons to youngsters at Hawthorne Elementary School.
Sweet sounds can be heard throughout the halls at Hawthorne Elementary School, which was recently awarded an Arts Council of Westerville education grant to buy mandolins. Music teacher Sarah McPeak applied for and received funding for the project. Fifth grade teacher Mick Broderick, a professional musician who hails from Ireland, has been teaching enthusiastic students there to play the instruments. First lessons took place a few weeks ago.
