AP Chemistry students at Westerville North High School learned the art of making handmade soaps and bath bombs, thanks to science teacher Jeff Bracken, who introduced how chemistry can be used in the real world.  Business students then took the products and created a business called Chem Gems.  The items were sold at the Mark Twain Holiday Craft Bazaar in November.  After a terrific showing there, Chem Gems was asked to participate in the Role Model Magazine Holiday Bazaar, which was held on December 2 at the Oasis City Church.

Currently, all products are for sale during lunch break for students and staff to purchase.  If anyone else within the school district would like to buy some items, please visit the Bath Bomb Bonanza on Thursday afternoon, December 14, from 2:15 – 4:00 p.m. in room 247 at Westerville North High School, which is located at 950 County Line Road.  Or, e-mail ChemGems@wcsoh.org.  Small bath bombs cost $2.00; medium bath bombs are $4.00; and bars of soap cost $4.00.  The charge for a Six-Pack Sampler (six small bath bombs for the price of five) is $10.  All orders must be picked up at North on December 14 from 2:15 - 4:00 p.m.  Profits will be used to provide additional educational opportunities for students.
