Westerville North High School language arts teacher Leslie Baumann has made quite an impact with her students. That became evident when she received a letter from the University of Iowa inviting her to be honored on October 11 at the Belin-Blank Center Recognition Ceremony in the Iowa Memorial Union. She was nominated by Leah Gaus, a former pupil.
The ceremony celebrates students who show exceptional ability. “We believe that teachers play a vital part in the lives of our students,” wrote Susan G. Assouline, Ph.D., Director of the Belin-Blank Center. “Because of this, we have encouraged each student to identify a teacher who has made a significant impact on their lives to be recognized along with the student. At the ceremony, you and Leah will be recognized by name and presented with awards.”
Those who are not able to participate will receive a copy of the program and a certificate of recognition after the event. “It is a great tribute to you and your school that you were selected by one of your students for this honor,” concluded Dr. Assouline.
