Seven Westerville City Schools students are advancing to states in the Library of Congress’ annual Letters about Literature contest.  Out of the nearly 2,000 entries from across Ohio, 164 letters were chosen to move on to the next round of competition.

The Ohio Center for the Book, at the Cleveland Public Library, works with the Library of Congress to coordinate the competition in which students are asked to write to favorite authors, dead or alive, to explain how the author’s work impacted students’ lives.

Westerville Central High School senior Kaylor Schuttinger, taught by Jim Grannis, is a Round 1 Finalist, as are Westerville North seniors Cheyenne Cole, Jacqueline Kloos, Katie Leskowitz, Alex Salisbury and Ryan Watson, along with junior Tiffany McClutcheon.  All six North students are members of the school’s student newspaper, The Odyssey.  Maryann Hines, the paper's adviser, along with Grannis, also received a commendation from the Ohio Center of the Book.
