Mason Gresh, a senior at Westerville North High School, signed with the University of Findlay football program on National Signing Day, February 4.  A special ceremony was held on February 9 at Westerville North High School to celebrate the event.

Gresh first visited the University of Findlay campus last fall, and immediately knew that was the school for him, noting that the size of the campus, the friendliness of the students, and the passion of the coaches and players all contributed to his decision to apply.

Gresh’s love of football began in the third grade when he became part of the JFLW’s Pony Eagles, which laid the foundation for his football journey.  His enthusiasm carried through middle school football at Heritage and into high school, where he was named 2014 All Conference Second Team.  A three-year letter winner at Westerville North, Gresh was also the recipient of the 2014 Coaches’ Award, which recognizes the player who made the most impact on the team, and who was viewed a leader to others.  In addition, he received the 2014 Scholar Athlete Award as acknowledgement of his achievements in the classroom.

Looking back, Gresh’s favorite memories of Westerville North football are breaking the streak and working the kids’ camps in the summer.  Though the football program is in the rebuilding stage, he said the challenges he faced on the field taught him that perseverance and commitment are qualities that will help lead him through the rest of his life.

Gresh plans to study exercise science at the University of Findlay, and looks to be successful both on the field and in the classroom.  He said Westerville North has been his family the past four years—the teachers, coaches and administrators—and his goal is to continue to embody the “Warrior Way.”
