American Legion Recognizes Top Scorers on Americanism & Government Test

The American Legion Young Budd Post 171 of Westerville, Ohio recently conducted the 2014-2015 Americanism and Government Test in each of the Westerville High Schools for their 10th, 11th and 12th grade students.  The test consisted of 50 questions covering Federal, State, County, and Local government; the United States flag; the U.S. constitution and the Declaration of Independence. In addition, each student was required to compose a 300 word essay on “What Can Be Done to Curb Violence in Our Schools”.  65,000 students throughout the State of Ohio and at 500+ schools took part in this testing program. 

The American Legion Ohio’s 12th District (Franklin County) honored Westerville students Tristan Justice, a senior at Westerville North; Carmen Stone, a senior at Westerville North; Nicole Dinan, a junior at Westerville Central; and Bryan Peck, a junior at Westerville North for achieving top scores in the District.  Each received special recognition and a monetary award. 

In addition, Post 171 extended special recognition and a monetary award to Tristan Justice, a senior at Westerville North for earning the highest overall score of all the students tested in the Westerville School District. 

Runner-ups Elijah Learn (11th grade – Westerville North); Hunter Meadows (10th grade Westerville North); and Kelsey Cox (10th grade – Westerville North) were also honored on February 4 at the Westerville American Legion.
