Andrew (Drew) Mantenieks, a pupil at Walnut Springs Middle School, was recognized by the Westerville City Schools Board of Education on Monday evening, July 28, for having received the R.A. Horn Outstanding Student Achievement Award from the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities.  Kelly Ferguson, case manager/intervention specialist, nominated him in the category of Self-Advocacy.

In her nomination, Ferguson said Mantenieks is a driven student who can overcome obstacles that stand in the way of his goals and that his hard work and determination has helped him to succeed.  She said he has proven himself to be a leader not only in the classroom, but also in the community.  “Drew continues to be supported for his pleasant demeanor and work ethic by administration in his school,” she concluded.
