Students discuss housing costs with Kemba employee Antonio Castrillo.
For the past few years at Westerville North High School, representatives from Kemba Financial have spoken with U.S. Government students about financial literacy. They share information about the importance of having a budget, a bank and a savings plan in order to obtain financial security.
On March 19, Kemba employees turned out in force to offer a budget simulation activity in the auxiliary gymnasium at the school. Students were given a life scenario as they walked from station to station and got jobs, bought cars and houses, purchased insurance, had children, etc., to see the different aspects that are involved in setting up a budget and financial plan. “The process was very eye opening for our students, and was a great lead-in to a more in-depth budget project that we do with the kids after spring break,” said Social Studies teacher Lane Halterman.
