The Rotary Club of Westerville, which sponsors a Student of the Month program, recognized recipients at a luncheon at Villa Milano held on October 3.  October students are:  Jessica Swisher, Westerville Central High School; Andy Struttman, Westerville North High School; Jacob Williams, Westerville South High School; and Benjamin Dumm, St. Francis DeSales High School.

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding students who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Andy Struttman, a senior at Westerville North, holds a 3.4 grade point average.  Science and history are his favorite subjects of study.  Struttman is a scholar athlete in track, wrestling and football, an All Conference player in football, and a State Qualifier in wrestling.  He has volunteered at Run the Race.  He plans to major in Business at the University of North Carolina, the University of Cincinnati, or Eastern Michigan University.

Jacob Williams, a senior at Westerville South, likes studying history and English.  He is president of the Theatre Club and serves as Auditorium Manager at his school.  He is active in community theater groups, has participated in the Otterbein Summer Choir, and served as a narrator for Generations.  Williams will pursue a degree in Education at Capital or Otterbein University.

Senior Benjamin Dumm holds a 4.3 grade point average at St. Francis DeSales, where his favorite subjects of study are advanced biology and chemistry.  At school he is active in golf, lacrosse, the National Honor Society, the Math Club and the Engineering Club.  He is an alter server.  Dumm is also an AP Scholar and a Buckeye Boys State Delegate.  He plans to study biomedical engineering at Duke, Northwestern or Lehigh University.
