Westerville Central High School hosted a student training entitled, “It’s My Turn” on April 16 and 17.  The high school’s special needs pupils learned ways to have a successful transition from school to life after school and employment.  The program was sponsored by the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities.  It provided an opportunity for students to develop skills that will help them recognize what they need and want to do after high school.

The event taught the young people skills in taking care of themselves, finding a job, paying bills, making everyday purchases and moving out on their own.  The information was presented in a fun, non-threatening way through role play, games and crafts.  The program concluded with a dinner for the students and their families and a ceremony where they were given a chance to present a collage of their life goals and receive a certificate of accomplishment.
