Westerville South Graduate Lance Moore is the New Orleans Saints Man of the Year

Westerville South High School graduate Lance Moore has been named Man of the Year by the New Orleans Saints, where he plays wide receiver. He joined the team in 2005. The award, which is based on dedication to community service, charitable efforts and on-field performance, is voted on by members of the media, Saints front office staff and local non-profit and business executives. Moore was recently awarded the 2012 United Way Hope Award for his commitment to the community and is also the Saints’ nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which is selected from the 32 National Football League teams.

Moore has been working with his foundation, the Lance Moore Community Cares program, which serves disadvantaged children and families who are in need of financial, educational and communal assistance. He is the spokesperson for the Saints Copeland’s Kids Club as well as the Saints Keep Gym in Schools promotion, and is a Play 60/Got Milk ambassador. Other endeavors include his foundation’s toy drive, Football Camp for Her breast cancer awareness program, Football Camp for Kids and Home Runs for Kids celebrity softball game. Moore also remembers his Westerville roots. During the last school levy, he flew home to address the community at a rally in support of financing local education.

Lance Moore is coming off one of his best seasons as a Saint. He had 65 receptions for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns. He has 309 receptions for 3,824 yards and 36 touchdowns in his career.
