Blendon Middle School kicked off the year with its Quarterly Renaissance Awards Program and Celebration on Friday, August 31. The celebration recognized 52 students for their exceptional achievement during the 4th Quarter of the 2011-2012 school year. Following an achievement assembly, they were treated by the Blendon PTO to a fun day at the Jaycee Pool. At the assembly, Renaissance students received a certificate and prizes donated by local businesses, Blendon parents, and the PTO. Two names were also drawn in a raffle for the grand prizes – a VIP Car Pass to African Safari Wildlife Park and a $50 gift certificate from Best Buy.

To qualify for the Renaissance Program, students must meet criteria for academic excellence, community service, attendance, deportment, and school spirit. Students can qualify for Bronze, Silver, or Gold level certificates by meeting increasingly difficult levels of achievement in each of the five categories. The Blendon staff is grateful to local business and parent sponsors for their generous support of the fourth quarter Renaissance Program: American Safari Wildlife Park, Anthony Thomas Candy Company, Arena Grand Theatre, Best Buy, Chocolaterie Stam, City BBQ, CoCo Water Resort, Columbus Clippers, Columbus Crew, COSI, Dave & Buster’s, Donato’s Pizza, DQ, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Marie Scrambler’s, Motorcycle Hall of Fame, On The Mat Martial Arts, Pancake House, Pizza Primo, Raising Cane’s Chicken, Rita’s Italian Ice, Skate Zone 71, and the Blendon PTO.
