Announcements
  • Government Assessment

    The government assessment will be on Tuesday, March 10th. Students will be given a study guide to take home on Thursday, March 5th.  This study guide and the notes for this unit will also be posted in Schoology on the 5th.

  • Monday, Feb 17

    No school due to President's Day

  • DARE Graduation - You are invited!

    Please join us in celebrating our 5th graders as they graduate from DARE class!  The event will be held in the Whittier gymnasium on Thursday, January 30th from 1:30 to 2:15.  This is also an Early Release Day, so you will be able to take your child home with you after the graduation.  If you have other children that you will be taking home early as well, please notify their teacher ahead of time, so they can have them ready to go at 2:15.  Hope to see you all there!

  • Math Unit 3 post test

    The unit 3 post test covering decimals will be on Wednesday, Dec 11. A study guide was sent home on Thursday, Dec 5. 

  • Motion Test is Dec 5

    Our test over Forces and Motion will be Thursday, Dec 5. A study guide came home on Tuesday, Nov 26.

  • Inca Test on Wednesday, November 20th

    Study guides and notes were sent home in Take Home folders on Friday, November 15th.  These are also posted in Schoology in the Social Studies course.  The Iink to the Inca Kahoot review game will be posted on Tuesday.  Happy studying!

  • Quarter 2 Book Challenge Goal Due Date!

    December 19th is the end of the second quarter.  All Book Challenge Letters for this quarter should be submitted to Mrs. Alexander before this date.

  • Early Release

    Early release from school on Thursday, November 14 at 2:30.

  • MoMM Foundation Walking Field Trip

    All 5th graders will be taking a walking field trip to the Jaycee Pool Shelter House on Friday, November 8th in the morning.  No permission form is needed, since all walking field trips are given prior approval by parents at the beginning of the school year when you complete your registration forms.

  • Maya Test 10/22

    Study guides and Maya Notes will be coming home in your child's "Take Home" folder on Wednesday, October 16th.  The test is on Tuesday, October 22nd.  Your child can access copies of the notes and study guide in their Schoology account in their Social Studies course.

  • Fall Room Party Sign-up

  • OCT 15

    School will be released at 2:00 due to the Democratic National Debate at Otterbein

  • Conferences

    Do not forget to sign up for conferences. We are happy to schedule phone conferences should that be easiest for you. Please send us an email if you would like to do one over the phone. 

  • Math Post test

    Unit 1 Post tests have been graded and shared with students. Tests will be given to parents at conferences, however, please be in touch should you want it before that. 

  • Field Day and Early Release September 26th

    Whittier Fall Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, September 26th.  Sack lunches (turkey/cheese sandwich) will be served in the cafeteria that day.  Students should wear their Whittier shirt, tennis shoes, and bring their own water bottle.  Students will be released at 2:30 p.m due to our district scheduled Early Release.

  • Unit 1 Math Post test

    The Unit 1 Post test will be on September 17. Students will be given a study guide on Tuesday, Sept 10. The study guide is not required to complete, however, it is a great study tool. I will place an Answer Key in email so you have access to it without the students knowing you have the answers. 

  • Geography Assessment

    Study guides and notes for the Geography Test will be sent home in Take Home Folders on Thursday, August 29th.  The test will be on Wednesday, Sept. 4th.  The notes and study guide will also be posted in Schoology (Social Studies course) starting this Thursday.

  • Field trip

    Our first field trip of the year is scheduled for September 18 to Sharon Woods. We have a partnership with them to help with our science ecosystem study. This field trip is RAIN or SHINE! Students need to be prepared with OLD shoes (or boots) and OLD clothes. Sweatshirts and coats may be necessary if it is cold or raining. Packed lunches will also be required.

  • Picture Day

    Picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27. Picture forms came home in Take Home folders on Friday, August 16.

  • Curriculum Night

    MARK YOUR CALENDARS

    Curriculum Night is Sept 5. There will be two sessions: 6-7 and 7-8. It is only necessary to attend one session. 

  • DARE begins

    DARE begins with Officer Wojo on Wednesday, Aug 21. It will be every A day with the homeroom class.

  • First day

    Tuesday, August 13 is the first day of school 

  • Teacher Walk Through

    Monday, August 12 from 2:00-3:00. You can come in to view the room and drop off supplies before the first day.
