Panel Discusses Current and Future Trends in Education
9/28/2012
On September 25, Westerville City School District Board members, administrators, teachers, and students, along with community leaders, gathered on the campus of Otterbein University for a panel discussion on the current and future trends in education. The panel included Dr. Kathy Krendl (President of Otterbein University), Dr. Melissa Conrath (former Superintendent of Worthington City Schools and current Otterbein University faculty member), Dr. Barb Schaffner (Dean of the School of Professional Studies, Otterbein University), Dr. Bart Anderson (Superintendent of the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio), and Julian Goodman (Owner of Firehouse Subs).
The purpose of the discussion was to provide the audience with information and ideas on how the Westerville City School District can best prepare students for the dynamic 21st century environments they will enter. Panelists shared their thoughts on education trends today and what they foresee as important future educational issues and topics, potentially impacting the Westerville community. The diversity of expertise and experience on the panel allowed participants to see education from multiple viewpoints, synthesize varying perspectives, and apply ideas to their current capacities.
