The Trail Blazers smashed their collection goal of $500 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
The spring Trail Blazers at Wilder Elementary School wanted to find a way to give back to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Student leaders in grades 2 - 5 set a goal to raise $500 to purchase a blue butterfly wagon for patients to use at the hospital. The wagons are a symbol of peace and comfort and are used to transport patients and their belongings across the hospital. On April 26, the Trail Blazers hosted a Nationwide Children’s Spirit Day - to wear hats and Wilder gear - and encouraged students and staff to bring in donations of any amount to school. The Trail Blazers and Wilder raised a total of $868.38. $500 was used to purchase a wagon in Wilder’s name and the rest of the money was given to the hospital as a donation. “We are extremely grateful for the generous donations from our families that exceeded our initial goal!” said advisor Elizabeth Wolfgang.
