Wilder Elementary School’s K-Kids (Kiwanis Club) took a field trip on Saturday, February 20, to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.  They donated a box of 75 books to each place and were then given a tour of the Ronald McDonald House.  It was a great experience for the students to see firsthand how some children and families live when faced with a sick child.  Although the Ronald McDonald House offers many fun amenities, the children also had time to reflect on why the families were living there.  It was a thought-provoking experience for everyone involved.

Another big takeaway from this field trip was learning the importance of collecting pop tabs.  The Ronald McDonald House uses money from pop tabs to pay for their utilities and other expenses required to run the facility.  Overall, the outing was a huge success.  The students were given the opportunity to help, understand, and be grateful.
