More than 200 families and students joined the Robert Frost Elementary community for the school’s first-ever Cultural Night on Thursday. City and district leaders joined the festivities during the unveiling of the school’s Peace Pole with the Westerville Sunrise Rotary.

The Peace Pole project is an international Rotary initiative that serves as an affirmation of peace and is designed to inspire unity among people of all cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. The Peace Poles provided by the Westerville Sunrise Rotary feature translations in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Hmong, Arabic, Braille and American Sign Language.

The event marked the culmination of the PTA’s school-wide Friendship Celebrations they’ve organized throughout the year. They kicked-off their first event in October, which focused on friendship within the school. They followed up with a celebration in January, where students worked on a variety of projects that demonstrated what it means to be a friend in their community. Thursday’s celebration focused on friendship in the world.
