Lindsey Lonchnya, a Spanish teacher at Walnut Springs Middle School; Kim Marcum, the choir director at Heritage Middle School; Colin Ullom-Morse, a third-grade teacher at Robert Frost Elementary have been named Westerville Education Foundation’s (WEF) January Teachers of the Month.

WEF interim Executive DIrector Andrea Drago, WEF Board Member and Chair of the Teacher of the Month program Rebecca Chesnic, Superintendent Dr. John Kellogg, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Scott Reeves and other administrators recently surprised recipients with the news.

Nomination letters for each recipient featured glowing praise:

Lonchnya: “She is caring and will always listen to your problems. She is amazing at explaining things and teaching the lessons to us. She is very sweet and nice and handles everything great and she will always help you and you can always go to her.”

Marcum: “She helped me through like a lot last year and I know what she deals with in a day trying to get everyone in the right posture and to stop talking.”

Ullom-Morse: “Mr. U-M goes above and beyond for his students and shows them that he cares about them in and out of the classroom.”

WEF recognizes teachers who have made an impact on their students, peers and school community. Sponsored by the Education First Credit Union, the Teacher of the Month program provides winners with $100 for their classroom funds.
