Robert Frost Students Rewarded for Reaching iPad Fundraiser Goal

Way back in March, students and families at Robert Frost Elementary were challenged by the PTA to raise $10,000 towards the purchase of iPads for the school.  If they were successful, PTA representatives said they would match that amount, bringing the grand total to potentially more than $20,000.  Each teacher in the building created a unique experience to be raffled off and as an added incentive, Principal Sarah Berka vowed to spend one night sleeping under the stars on the roof of the school, while the PTA promised to host an outside movie night for the children.

When the activity concluded, the students raised approximately $12,000 and the PTA kicked in its promised $10,000.  Forty-eight iPads were purchased (eight for each grade level).  Inclement weather moved Movie Night indoors, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of the children.  Berka ate dinner on the roof with Golden Ticket winner Sam Anzur, and she has vowed to pitch a tent on the roof and keep her promise in the fall.
