Robert Frost Students Win Top Honors at Seventh Annual Lego Competition

Fifth grade Robert Frost Elementary School student Eric Glasgow created the Hanby House out of Legos and ended up being named Overall Grand Winner at the seventh annual Westerville City Schools Lego Competition held March 16 at Heritage Middle School.  Proceeds from the event benefited Westerville's Elementary Leadership Summit, the Children Supporting Children Foundation, and the Westerville Area Resource Ministry. 

Participants had to provide their own Legos.  They were allowed to build anything they wanted during the competition, but nothing could be pre-built prior to the contest.  No directions to Lego sets were permitted.  Parental assistance was not allowed, but family members and friends were permitted to watch from a designated viewing area.  Other Best of Show winners were:
Overall Best of Show for Most Creative - Grant McLean (Robert Frost, 2nd grade); and Overall Best of Show for Most Realistic - Austin Yanichko (Robert Frost, 5th grade)

Each contestant received a Certificate of Participation, and two winners per grade level were recognized: 

  • Kindergarten - Most Realistic, Jordan Mazak (Mark Twain); Most Creative, Austin Zacherl (St. Paul)
  • Grade 1 - Most Realistic, Alex Cardoza (Mark Twain); Most Creative, Connor Thomas (Mark Twain)
  • Grade 2 - Most Realistic, Drew Gaskins (Alcott); Most Creative, Nathan Craiglow (Emerson)
  • Grade 3 - Most Realistic, Moira Long (Annehurst); Most Creative, Tracy Anderson (Cherrington)
  • Grade 4 - Most Realistic, Andrew Morrison (Wilder); Most Creative, Kevin Heil (St. Paul)
  • Grade 5 - Most Realistic, Andrew Mason (St. Paul); Most Creative, Liam Warren (Mark Twain)

The event was supported, in part, by Learning Express Toys located in New Albany/Worthington, Meijer, Bricks 4 Kidz - Westerville, and Holiday Inn Express - Polaris Parkway.
