WCSD students earn accolades in 17th annual Celebrate the Arts Writing Contest

Six Westerville City Schools students were among the winners in the annual Celebrate the Arts Writing Contest sponsored by the Arts Council of Westerville, Westerville Public Library and Friends of the Westerville Public Library. 

The writing contest, which received 127 submissions this year, is part of the celebration of the arts in Westerville every April. All approved entries will be printed in a compilation book for purchase. 

Winners for each grade/age category were recognized at receptions on April 23 at the library. Their writing entries will be published on the Arts Council’s website. 

The contest winners who are WCSD students include:

  • Anna Peters, fifth grade, Mark Twain Elementary

1st Place in Grades 3-5 category: Apartment 13 

  • Charlotte Fusco, fifth grade, Huber Ridge Elementary

2nd Place in Grades 3-5 category: The Drinks 

  • Gloria Kindron, fifth grade, Huber Ridge

3rd Place in Grades 3-5 category: Frank’s Journey

  • Lucas Greyson Gonzalez, fifth grade, Huber Ridge

Honorable Mention: The Sunwatcher and the Moon Observer 

  • Anthony Malek, 11th grade, Westerville Central High School

1st Place in Grades 9-12 category: Wall Girl

  • Nora Carden, 10th grade, Westerville North High School

2nd Place in Grades 9-12 category: Timeless
