Huber Ridge Elementary School Principal Chris Blados and Assistant Principal Tyson Hilkert agreed to kiss a pig if their students raised more than $2,200 for Pennies for Patients.  They had faith that the children would meet this lofty goal, but were secretly hoping a real pig might not be available.  Where there’s a will there’s a way, however, and staff members worked diligently to find Staci Creasap, a freshman agriculture major at Wilmington College, who volunteered to bring in a pig for kissing.  The March 24 event was marked with squeals of delight – from the pig, the students, and the staff.

Since 1994, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country.  The funds, collected during a three-week period, benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
