In celebration of Unity Day on Wednesday, October 22, volunteers from Home Depot visited Huber Ridge Elementary School to help students in the classrooms of Adam Flugge, George Victory and Heather Lewis build a “Buddy Bench” next to the playground.  Many wore orange that day to show their support in uniting against bullying.

Unity Day began in 2011 as part of National Bullying Prevention Month, which was launched by the PACER National Bullying Center.  PACER actively leads social change so that bullying is no longer considered an accepted childhood rite of passage. The organization provides innovative resources for students, parents, educators, and others, and recognizes bullying as a serious community issue that impacts education, physical and emotional health, and the safety and well-being of students.
