On Friday afternoon, April 4, second grade students gathered to remember classmate Connor Talbert, who passed away last year due to pulmonary hypertension, a disease of the lungs and heart.  Talbert’s friends, family members, neighbors and teachers held a PTA-sponsored memorial service in the cafeteria to remember the young boy.  The youngsters read letters they had written to Connor, and sang a song called “Forever Friends.”  During the ceremony, heavy rain poured down, but as if by design, the skies cleared and the sun came out just in time for the children to proceed outside where they launched dozens of green balloons (Connor’s favorite color).  At the base of a new tree that was placed in front of the school is a rock that is inscribed as follows:  “Planted in Memory of Connor Talbert, July 14, 2005 - March 24, 2013.  Breathe Easy.”
