State Representative Tracy Maxwell Heard spoke with Huber Ridge Elementary School students on February 8.

Huber Ridge Elementary students are enjoying a plethora of guest speakers in February as the school observes Black History Month.  The effort is being coordinated by teacher Linda Cramer.  Most recently, the Honorable Tracy Maxwell Heard visited to answer questions and talk about her role as the State Representative from the 26th Ohio House District.  Heard is the Minority Whip of the 129th General Assembly.  As a full-time legislator, in her junior term, she proudly serves the area that covers the Downtown, East and Southside communities of Columbus.  Her primary areas of focus are what she refers to as “The Four E’s” – Education, Economic Development, Energy and the Environment.  Heard shared her fundamental belief that “service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on the earth.”  To that end, she volunteers on numerous community and civic boards.   Heard presented herself to the students as an admirable role model, while providing a quick lesson in civics and public service.
