Principal

Dear Hawthorne Families,

I could not be more excited to continue to lead such an amazing team here at Hawthorne Elementary School. We are committed to helping each student reach their maximum academic potential. Equally as important, we pride ourselves in offering a challenging and safe learning environment where all students are nurtured academically, socially and emotionally. As a staff we are committed to inspiring and guiding each student to his or her maximum potential. As a school community, we understand how essential it is for families and the school to partner together. Bridging the gap between home and school is a vital key to each child achieving their maximum potential and we will work hard to earn your support. We understand that we are starting the year with a lot of amazing new changes to our school both physically as well as welcoming many new families to our Hawthorne community. No matter what challenges this year brings us, our goal at Hawthorne will never change. We are committed to creating a safe and challenging learning environment where our students are exposed to as much quality instruction as possible. We know that education equals opportunity and that is what the entire staff at Hawthorne is focused on everyday when we walk through the doors of our school.

I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve in my fourth year as the principal of Hawthorne Elementary School. I look forward to meeting all of you as we work collaboratively to make Hawthorne Elementary the place to be! We had an amazing year last year and we are going to have another tremendous year here at Hawthorne.

I would like to take the time to introduce myself to you. I will be entering my 25th year in education and have worked in Ohio, as well as California, as a teacher, instructional coach and an administrator. Here in Westerville, before I came to Hawthorne, I served as the Vice Principal of Walnut Springs Middle School for five years. I am originally from Youngstown, Ohio and have been married to my wife Nicole, also an educator, for 24 years. We have a eight year old daughter named Elissa. I have a passion for education and I believe everyday that I walk into this building is an opportunity to change the world.

Hawthorne Elementary is an amazing school with dedicated teachers and support staff, outstanding students, and supportive parents and community members. My door is always open, so please come by and introduce yourself.

Mr. Ernest Clinkscale - Principal (Mr. C)
