Hawthorne Elementary PTA hosted a Mumkin fundraiser to support the school, selling nearly 800 mum flowers.

Families were able to pick up mumkins last week thanks to some help from several volunteers.

“We were very lucky to have the help of one of the fifth-grade classes for a little bit and to have help from some wonderful high schoolers,” fifth-grade teacher Sarah Ward said.

Students from all three Westerville high schools helped sort and organize the flowers for the parent pick-up event, earning community service hours.

“It may have been a cold and windy night but that didn't stop parents from picking up mumkins or high schoolers from showing up to help out,” Ward said.
