TJ Potterf, a kindergarten teacher at Cherrington Elementary, has been named the March Teacher of the Month by Sunny 95, WSNY (94.7 FM).
Andre Friederich, event director for the Columbus Radio Group and a radio personality on WVMX-Mix 107.9, surprised Potterf and her students with the news last week. Her nomination featured glowing praise:
“She puts her whole heart into making her classroom a loving, warm, and welcoming space and her students feel that. Her warmth spreads farther than her classroom walls — she greets and hugs students she doesn't even know in the hallways, she thanks substitute teachers for coming to school, she'll pick up trash or a scrap of paper from the playground, and she always has chocolate in her desk if you're having a tough day… (Potterf) never misses an opportunity to tell a Kindergartner she loves them and she's proud of them.”
