Two-hundred-seventy student representatives in grades 3-5 attended the Spring 2013 Elementary Leadership Summit on Friday, May 10, for the purpose of further developing their leadership skills, as well as sharing community service endeavors conducted in their schools. A special appearance was made by motivational speaker Harvey Alston, who focused on individual responsibility for goal attainment, achievement, and being HAPPY.  He reinforced the need for students to establish goals and achieve high standards by doing their best.  Students shared the leadership activities they coordinated in their individual schools, and participated in activities intended to further enhance their leadership skills.  The closing speaker, Matt Jergens, affirmed the importance of teamwork.  Jergens is a well-known corporate and theme-park entertainer who uses a variety of props to defy gravity while engaging and involving audience participants.  Due to the generous support of such organization as the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Foundation, Immediate Health Urgent Care Centers, and HR Imaging, there was no expense for students to attend.
