Westerville City School District Board of Education members during their March 11, 2013, regular meeting heard a status report on recent work that has been completed by the Elementary Attendance Boundary Realignment Committee (EABRC).

The EABRC met twice last week and is meeting again on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, as it continues to refine elementary attendance boundary options into a final recommendation for the Board’s consideration. Committee members have reviewed the most recent community feedback and used it to adapt the three remaining options into Option D3.

The committee will make adjustments to Option D3 as it continues to evolve based upon community feedback. Option D3 and earlier boundary options developed are available for review in the most recent Cropper Report, which can be accessed through the Elementary Attendance Boundary Realignment link at www.wcsoh.org.  Community feedback also is being accepted through the site.

The committee originally was to present a recommendation to the Board for a first reading at yesterday’s regular meeting. However, the committee has been granted additional time to refine its work product and develop the proposal it will submit for Board members’ consideration. The Board has indicated its goal is to hold a first reading on the committee’s recommendation prior to Spring Break.

Elementary attendance boundary realignment is necessary due in part to the elimination of the district’s magnet program as part of budget reductions following a failed operating levy in November of 2011.
