270 student representatives in grades 3-5 attended the seventh annual Westerville City Schools Fall 2012 Elementary Leadership Summit on Friday, November 9, for the purpose of enhancing their leadership skills. Pupils were selected to attend by members of the Otterbein College Student Education Association, who critiqued their essays.

Special appearances at the Leadership Summit were made by musician Arnett Howard, entertainer Mark Wade, and Director of Operations for Immediate Health Associates, Marc Hogenbirk. Speakers and numerous activities facilitated by volunteers from the community, Westerville Sunrise Rotary, and Westerville North High School students, focused on communication, teamwork, and sharing. Due to the generous support of the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Foundation, Heartland Bank, Immediate Health Urgent Care Centers, and HR Imaging Photography, there was no expense for students to attend. Students also brought canned goods to the event, and as a result, nearly 600 pounds of food was donated to WARM.
