The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding pupils who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members.

Twelfth grade student Jacqueline Barber holds a 4.0 GPA at DeSales.  English and Italian are her favorite subjects.  At school, she plays softball, is a Student Council member, Student Ambassador, member of the Business Club and works for the school magazine.  She volunteers as a softball coach and is active in different service clubs including St. Vincent de Paul and Corral for the Kids.  Barber, captain of the softball team, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian National Honor Society.  She plans to study Marketing and Graphic Design at The Ohio State University or Miami University.
