Rotary Club of Westerville Names January Students of the Month

The Rotary Club of Westerville, which sponsors a Student of the Month program, recognized recipients at a luncheon at Villa Milano held on Thursday, January 17.  January students are Allison Miller, Westerville Central High School; Hannah Gorsuch, Westerville North High School; Caleb Jingo, Westerville South High School; and Hannah Magold, St. Francis DeSales High School.  

The purpose of the program is twofold:  to recognize outstanding pupils who have distinguished themselves by serving their school and to expose them to the Rotary Club and its ideal of “Service Above Self.”  Students selected join Rotarians for lunch every week for a month, and have the opportunity to interact with members. 

Westerville Central senior Allison Miller holds a 4.5 grade point average (GPA).  Psychology, Business and Math are her favorite subjects of study.  She is involved in cheerleading, Renaissance Club, the Letterman’s Leadership Club, National Honor Society, the K.U.B. Club, Junior Mentoring, Young Life and Leadership OCC.  She is also an office helper.  Miller volunteers in the SACC program at Alcott Elementary, helps at cheerleading youth and middle school clinics, and volunteers at a local food pantry.  She received All-American awards at Cheerleading Camp, Pin-it Forward awards, an All OCC League award, and academic accolades.  She is a Brand Representative at Hollister Co.  Miller plans to study Business, Marketing, and Psychology at the collegiate level.

Westerville North High School senior Hannah Gorsuch overcame many serious medical issues throughout her life to arrive at a place filled with hope and purpose.  She credits Jesus Christ, her parents, and the compassionate staff at Westerville North with her positive outlook.  Gorsuch is involved in choir and show choir at school.  Psychology and English are her favorite subjects.  She is active in FAC, Young Life, Notables, Theater and the Warrior Way.  She volunteers at Robert Frost Elementary School and is a children’s ministry teacher and a worship singer.  Gorsuch plans to study Early Childhood Education at Ohio Dominican University. 

Caleb Jingo, a senior at Westerville South, has earned a 4.5 GPA.  His favorite subjects are IB English, American Sign Language 3, and Jazz Ensemble.  He is president of Theatre Troupe 513, and is a National Honor Society member.  He also reads morning announcements for the school.  Jingo is a Northside Fellowship volunteer, is active in community theatre, and trains in voice, dance and piano.  Honors include Best Lead/Supporting Actor in a Play from Broadway World Columbus; National Honor Thespian from the International Thespian Society; Westerville South Merit Award, Perfect Attendance award, and Best of Junior and Frehsman classes from Theatre Troupe 513.  He plans to major in Musical Theatre, Acting or Comedy Arts. 

Biology and Italian are Hannah Magold’s favorite classes at St. Francis DeSales, where she holds a 4.3 GPA.  School activities include Lacrosse Stallions for Life Club, Run the Race Club, Corral for the Kids Club, Italian Club, Future Medical Professionals Club, Evangelization Team, and Student Ambassadors.  She volunteers during Christmas off campus through the University of Dayton, and at the Run the Race Center.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian National Honor Society.  Magold was chosen to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference and a medical camp.  She plans to study pre-med or pre-law in college.
