The Westerville City Schools Board of Education, at its Regular Session held on April 14, recognized a number of high school students who were selected by American Legion Post 171 to attend this year’s Buckeye Boys State and Buckeye Girls State.

Delegates to Buckeye Boys State are Jonathan Brooks, Grant Chudik, and Grant Hagglund (Westerville Central High School); Jerrod Coulter, Seamus Hilt, Jorden Messmer, and Jacob Waldruff  (Westerville North High School); and Donald Farrow and Leland Klein (Westerville South High School).

Selected to attend as Delegates to Buckeye Girls State are Ana Borish, Ashonti Harper, Trisha Hogue, Allison Ubry, and Rachel Wozniak (Central); Carmen Stone, Katie Trimmer, and My Trinh (North); and Mackensi Crenshaw, Hartlee Johnston, Emily McAlister, and Patricia Roederer (South).  American Legion Representative Bev Etling presented the students.

Buckeye Boys State will take place from June 8-15 at Bowling Green State University.  Buckeye Girls State will be held from June 15-21 at the University of Mt. Union in Alliance, Ohio.  Students will enjoy a week of simulated government and political experiences as they actively participate in the election process from local, city, county and state level government.  For the rest of the week following elections, the delegates (or ‘citizens’) will experience how various government offices operate.
