The 43rd Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition will open for viewing at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m.  It will include a piece by Westerville South senior Ethan Skaates.  The exhibition will remain on display until May 16, from 9:00-5:00 p.m., weekdays only.  The public is cordially invited to attend and join these outstanding and talented students from Ohio’s high schools, to salute their creative expressions in the visual arts.  The exhibition is a cooperative effort between the Governor of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Education, colleges, universities, and corporate sponsors.  More than 12,000 art entries were submitted to 15 regional locations from Ohio high schools.  A special awards ceremony will be held to honor the student artists at The Riffe Center Capitol Theatre at noon on Sunday, April 14.

Thad Ricker, Executive Director and coordinator of the exhibition, said, “The exhibition is a testament to the high quality of visual arts education that exists in our state.  It is vital that the community understands the value and importance of arts education, and the impact it has on our young people.”
