Westerville South’s Andy Jados is Ohio Assistant Principal of the Year
1/11/2013
Andy Jados, Assistant Principal at Westerville South High School, has been selected as the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP)/VIRCO Assistant Principal of the Year for the State of Ohio. As the Ohio Assistant Principal of the Year, Jados will attend the State Assistant Principals of the Year Symposium and Gala held in Washington, D.C. from April 10-13. He will also be honored by his peers at the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators Assistant Principals Conference March 25-26 in Columbus.
Jados has served as the assistant principal at Westerville South since the fall of 2008 after working as assistant principal in the Pickerington district from 2001-2008. He began his career in education as a Social Studies teacher in the Hilliard City School District.
Jados holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ohio Dominican College and a Master of Arts in School Administration from Ashland University. He graduated from the high school where he now serves as an administrator.
A strong believer in the importance of school climate, Jados has been instrumental in the success of the Wildcat PRIDE Committee, formed to create a positive environment for students and staff; the Student Success Team, employing research based strategies to improve student performance; the Really Cool Diversity Club, which promotes embracing the school’s diversity; and the Outstanding Wildcat Award to honor staff members.
Building Principal Steve Andersson says, “Andy is a true collaborative leader and seeks input from the people whom his decisions will affect. Andy learns the special strengths and talents of the people in our school and puts them to work not only where they can do their best, but also in areas where they can grow.”
VIRCO, Inc., the nation's leading manufacturer of K-12 school furniture, joins NASSP and the state associations to co-sponsor the Assistant Principal of the Year competition. Award recipients are chosen by a panel of judges and entered in the national competition. Ohio winners receive a signet ring from the Herff Jones Company.
