Sixty-two University of Wisconsin (UW) student-athletes have earned the honor of being named to the fall Big Ten Academic All-Conference team, including Westerville South High School graduate Ray Ball.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letter-winners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Ball saw action in the Big Ten Championship game against Nebraska on December 1, at Penn St on November 24, at Indiana on November 10, against Minnesota on October 20, at Purdue on October 13, against Illinois on October 6 and at Nebraska on September 29. He was named UW's offensive scout team Player of the Week after the Utah State game. He made his Badger debut at Oregon State on September 8. In 2011 he was red shirted.

At Westerville South, Ball was rated as the number 48 offensive tackle in the country by Scout and number 71 by ESPN/Scouts Inc. He recorded 94 pancakes during his career and, as a senior, was named first-team all-state, all-metro, all-district and all-conference. He was the Westerville South Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Ball, the son of Westerville City Schools bus driver Aleithra Ball, is majoring in Human Ecology with a focus in Development and Family Studies.
