Westerville North Junior Pursues Passion for Sailing

Westerville North junior Alec Chicoine has placed in the top 20 nationally at events in both Canada and the United States.

Westerville North High School junior Alec Chicoine likes to sail in his spare time. Living in Ohio, hasn’t impeded his passion. At present, he ranks 17th in the top laser radial sailors nationally for his age group. He achieved this by beating out 30 other competitors at the most recent semi-final competition at Cowan Lake. Chicoine also took first place regionally in the Inter Yacht Lake Association sailing regattas, which take place along the Great Lakes. Finally, he placed 19th at the CORK International Sailing Regatta in Kingston, Ontario. These achievements present exciting opportunities. He is enrolled in a sailing clinic in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he will travel three weekends a month to further his sailing skills.
