More than 100 educators, business people and community members showed up Monday evening, March 6, for the first Tomorrow’s Learning Today panel discussion, which coincided with the official dedication of Westerville North High School’s new SHOP.

Westerville Partners for Education and Westerville City Schools kicked off a new series called Tomorrow’s Learning Today, which was hosted by 10-TV news anchor Angela An.  Six panelists discussed what must be done to prepare students for tomorrow’s workforce, focusing on Hands-On Project Learning and the Maker Movement.  Seated on the panel were:

  • Dr. Annalies Corbin, Founder and CEO, PAST Foundation (Partnering Anthropology Science & Technology);
  • Erin Bender, Executive Director, The Point, Otterbein University;
  • Dennis Blair, City See/Blair IT;
  • Anne Baldwin, Westerville City Schools Career Tech & College Readiness Coordinator;
  • Scott Gaddis, Assistant Principal, Westerville North High School; and
  • Chris Poynter, Hawthorne Elementary School, Ohio Master Teacher.

Following the discussion, attendees were invited to tour Westerville North’s new SHOP, a fabrication lab that emphasizes innovation and collaboration.  Board of Education members participated in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and students from elementary, middle and high schools were present to display and discuss projects they have created.
