Building Message

Dru Tomlin

Good day, Heritage Middle School Families,

It is Saturday, February 8, 2020, and it’s time for the Principal’s Message. I hope everyone is enjoying the picturesque snow we’re having--while also staying safe and warm!

The HuskyStrong Word of the Week for February 3-7 was Revolutionary. In addition to talking about the meaning of that word, students were encouraged to learn about revolutionary people with the Black History Month Crossword Challenge! What’s that? Every week, 20 new Black History Month hero posters are hung up around the locker bay area, and then students search for the facts to help them complete the crossword. Every completed crossword earns points for their Houses, too!

Here are some key events and Husky things to know about the week ahead for February 10-14:

  1. On Monday, February 10, OELPA testing begins for our English-Learner students. Please keep this in mind if you enter the school building this week and the weeks ahead. Certain parts of the school will be reserved for concentrated testing and need quiet.

  2. Also on Monday, February 10 from 6pm-8pm, it’s time for an Indoor Snowball Fight for all Huskies at SkateZone! Come one, come all for this fun time with friends and family!

  3. On Tuesday, February 11 at 6:30pm, the Winter Sports Banquet will take place in the Commons. Families with students who participated in basketball, wrestling or cheerleading are encouraged to join the big celebration!

  4. On Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13, our 2nd Semester parent-teacher conferences will be held between 4:30-8pm each day. Your student’s teachers may have reached out to you to set up a date and time--either through a letter, email or phone call. If you have any questions, concerns, etc. please reach out to an administrator, counselor, or any of your child’s teachers.

  5. On Friday, February 14 and Monday, February 17, there is no school. Please mark these dates on your calendar.

This Week’s Inspirational Info:

So we’re looking forward to another wonderful week of Husky PRIDE.  Thank you for everything you do at your house to support what we do at the school house. As we say at Heritage: Keep your eyes on the prize and seize every day with kindness, excellence, safety and Husky PRIDE! We Are Heritage! We are Husky Strong!
