Good day, Heritage MS Students and Families!

It’s hard to believe, but here we are with your final #HuskyStrong message of the 22-23 school year! As always, please emphasize at home that the expectations for the last 3 days are the same as they’ve been for every day at school. Let’s finish #HuskyStrong together! A big time shout out to our PTSA, which put on an amazing dance for our 7th grade scholars last Friday! Please consider joining the PTSA for next school year by going to their MemberHub store, which includes spirit wear and memberships. Just click on "Memberships" on the left side to get going. It's super easy! https://heritage middle school ptsa.memberhub.com/store. And big time thanks to the teachers, staff and 8th grade students who successfully made it home on Friday night after an awesome time on the DC Trip!

Here are some Husky Happenings and Information for the week of May 22-26, 2023:

  1. Here is the #HuskyStrong Word of the Week video, which is about BEGIN. Check it out and then submit your answer on the #HuskyStrong Google Form. The Word of the Week Google Form is also in your Counselor Connection Course in Schoology! Every submission gets your House 10 points! Let’s keep helping our Houses, Huskies!

  2. Congratulations to Addison Marinelli and Olivia Jajack for earning the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award for the 2022-2023 school year! This is the highest honor a Middle School athlete can receive in the state of Ohio. They earned this recognition through their hard work, dedication, and leadership.

  3. End of the Year Reminders for all Huskies:

    • 6th graders will be outside a bit on Monday (5/22) and Tuesday (5/23) and 7th and 8th graders will be outside all day on Tuesday (5/23). It's going to be warm, so students are encouraged to wear sunscreen and bring a bottle for water.

    • Books. Library books must be returned to Mrs. Konik in the Media Center or put them in the mailbox in the front lobby. For workbooks and textbooks, students should follow their teachers’ directions about turning those in or disposing of them.

    • Lockers: if a student has used their  locker this year, they must check it by Tuesday (end of day). This also includes PE lockers.

    • School Supplies. Students are encouraged to donate any leftover (and gently used) school supplies–pens, pencils, paper, notebooks. We’ll have big boxes on the stage for Huskies to deposit them during lunches or anytime during the day.

    • No backpacks on the last day of school. Slingback bags or plastic grocery bags are fine.

    • Yearbooks will be handed out during 1st period on Wednesday, May 24. Students should not write or draw anything vulgar, profane, rude, etc. in their own book or in someone else’s yearbook. Students also shouldn’t draw on each other’s body’s or clothing.

    • The 8th grade Clap Out at the end of the day on Wednesday, May 24 is just for HMS students and staff. Unfortunately, because we’ll have buses and cars in the lot, we can’t accommodate additional families at that time. Thanks for understanding.

  4. Summer Meal Service! The district is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all eligible children (ages 1-18) free of charge from June 5 through July 18 (no meals will be served on June 19 or July 4) at Westerville Central High School, 7118 Mt. Royal Ave, Westerville, OH 43082. Breakfast will be served from 8-9 a.m. at both sites. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at both sites.  Westerville Area Resource Ministry (W.A.R.M.) will also provide meals to students through its Westerville Area Kids Summer Lunch Club, which runs weekdays from May 30 through August 11 at at least 10 sites. All sites are open sites to all children ages 1-18.

  5. Husky “Next Level” Athletics! Thanks to all of our HMS scholar-athletes--and to all of our Huskies who also participate in club sports! Thanks for representing HMS throughout the school year.

    1. Click here for more Sports information–all flyers for all Fall Sports, camps, etc. have been posted!

    2. Upcoming Sports Camps from the high schools (open to all ages!)

Let’s make these final 3 days awesome, so we can end the year #HuskyStrong! And don’t forget, over the summer, please continue to check the Principal’s Message page and your email for information about the school year ahead. If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, etc. or any information that we need to know, please reach out to me at tomlind@wcsoh.org or 614-797-6600. Keep your eyes on the prize and seize every day with kindness, excellence, safety, and Husky PRIDE! Let’s keep HOWLing for Success!

#HuskyStronger Together,

Dr. Tomlin and your Heritage MS Family
