Good day, Heritage Middle School Families, smiley

It is Saturday, September 14th and it’s time for the Principal’s Message.I hope everyone is staying #HuskyStrong (and cool) with the extended hot and humid weather we’re having!

The HuskyStrong Word of the Week for September 16-20 will focus on the word Possibility. Please talk to your student on the homefront about possibility and what it means to them at school, in their community, and in the world.

Here are some key events and Husky things to know about the week ahead for September 16-20:

  1. On Tuesday, September 17, there are two big events happening:

    1. Our Cross Country team will take on Walnut Springs MS at 5pm at home. Come out and cheer on our Huskies!

    2. It’s also a Dine-Out fundraiser for Heritage at Hot Chicken Take-Over (4198 Worth Avenue, Columbus) from 4-8pm. Proceeds go right back to the Home of the Huskies!

  2. On Wednesday, September 18, three events will be happening:

    1. The MODEL Mentors will be meeting with selected 8th grade girls in our Media Center at 12:15pm to talk about leadership, life and more! Thanks to our MODEL mentors!

    2. At 5pm, we have 2 major athletic events! The 7th and 8th grade football teams will take on Gahanna West at WNHS. And the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams will take on Blendon MS. Come cheer on the Huskies at both events!

  3. On Thursday, September 19, the Heritage MS Golf team will take on Genoa MS and Johnstown MS at Blackhawk Golf Club. Good luck, Huskies!

  4. Finally, did you know that we have 3 Houses going at Heritage? Aviators, Odyssey, and Adventurers. And at the end of each week, we announce which House has won the week based on the number of PRIDE Tokens, participation in Seminar activities, and discipline. Talk to your student about their House and what they do every day to help their House be successful!

This Week’s Inspirational Info:

Does your middle schooler stress about taking tests? Check out this article by Laura Bradley, “Set ‘Em Up for Success: Tips for Tackling Tests” (Edutopia 2015). This quick article gives you 3 things to do to help your student deal with tests.

So we’re looking forward to another wonderful week of Husky PRIDE.  Thank you for everything you do at your house to support what we do at the school house. As we say at Heritage: Keep your eyes on the prize and seize every day with kindness, excellence, safety and Husky PRIDE! We Are Heritage! We are Husky Strong!

Thanks,

Dr. Tomlinyes
