Heritage staff and students have been busy celebrating P.R.I.D.E. this month.  On January 12, pupils spent the entire day engaging in several meaningful activities and a very impactful drug education and awareness assembly called Tyler’s Light (http://tylerslight.com/).

The rest of the day, sixth graders participated in the One Word Project as a way to stay focused on their goals; seventh graders celebrated their uniqueness through Only One You; and eighth graders found their Love Language and discovered how it can help them work collaboratively.

All advisory groups read the children’s book The Rainbow Fish and created their own class fish that reflected what each student would do to make a positive impact at Heritage.  The Guidance Department created a problem-solving lesson using S.O.D.A.S (Situation, Options, Disadvantages, Advantages, and Solution), and Principal Dru Tomlin performed a rap as a way to help them remember the lesson.

On January 19, 350 Heritage scholars earned the Quarter 2 PRIDE incentive for academics, behavior and attendance.  They were treated to a movie, prizes and pizza at Westerville North High School.  Heritage scholars will be encouraged to practice having P.R.I.D.E. (Purpose, Respect, Independence, Discipline, Evaluate).
