The Westerville Sunrise Rotary recognized the eight recipients of this year’s Service to Youth awards at the group’s meeting on Wednesday.

They include: Jeffrey Holmes, sixth-grade teacher at Walnut Springs Middle School; Nicole Edwards, head custodian at Hawthorne Elementary; Deb Bergmann, English Learners paraprofessional at Genoa Middle School; Rhonda Hoffman, administrative assistant at the Academic Enrichment Center; Breanna Garrett, kindergarten teacher at Mark Twain Elementary; Mike Kalan, girls soccer coach at Westerville Central High School; Mark Hershiser, deputy superintendent; and Pat Palumbo, graduation and basketball coach at the Academic Enrichment Center.

The award, which launched in 2011, recognizes exceptional school employees who have made a special contribution to youth; have served as a positive role model for young people; and have demonstrated service above and beyond the call of duty in performing their job responsibilities. The award is named in honor of Westerville Mayor Diane Conley, who is also a retired WCSD administrator.
