Diverse books, robotics materials and a variety of instruments to foster multiple creative pathways to music learning are among the seven proposals awarded a 2023 Spring Grant from the Westerville Education Foundation (WEF).
The grants, which total $12,611, support innovative and creative projects that enhance education for students in Westerville City Schools.
WEF grants are supported by the foundation’s general grant fund, Alliance Data Card Services and the Dr. George Tombaugh Fund.
The WEF’s 2023 Spring Grant recipients include:
$689.04; Purchase picture books for Race and Ethnic Studies and African American History classes
$1,500; Provide funding for artist-in-residence Vicky Murphy, who will work with all visual arts students to create a permanent installation in the school’s sculpture garden
$2,000; Purchase Simon Memory Games as part of a unit for grades 3-5 on the life of Ralph Baer, who created the first home video game and the electronic game Simon
$6,526.78; Purchase a variety of instruments to foster multiple creative pathways to music learning
$359.25; Purchase high-interest, diverse books for the First Chapter Friday project
$534; Purchase materials for Hanby’s STEAM integration and FIRST LEGO League robotics teams
