WEF’s Grow and Glow event offers showcase of WCSD students, staff and partners

Westerville City School parents and community members can learn more about the programs, projects and initiatives throughout the district's classrooms at the Westerville Education Foundation's first-ever Grow and Glow event at Minerva France Elementary School. 

The showcase — which runs from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 — includes student performances, activities for families, and interactive experiences and booths. Attendees can also follow a self-guided tour of the new elementary anytime during the event or participate in one of the guided tours scheduled at 2:15 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Other event highlights include:

  • An instrument “petting zoo” with Westerville Central High School’s Marching Band

  • Alpacas and chickens with Genoa Middle School’s 4-Hawks program

  • Performances from Westerville South High School’s Theatre program, Minerva France music students, Robert Frost Elementary’s ukulele ensemble, 

  • Demonstrations with the district’s Engineering Pathways program, Minerva France’s Youth Yoga project, 

  • Displays from Hawthorne and Wilder elementaries, the district’s Educational Equity team, 

  • Featured presentations with partners such as the Westerville Parent Council, Westerville Sunrise Rotary and Education, Arts Council of Westerville, Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District, Straub Dance Center, Westerville History Museum, Westerville Education Challenge, Westerville Education Association, Birdie Books and Westerville Caring and Sharing.

Westerville History Museum is also hosting a presentation with Linda Dorage, a relative of Minerva France's family. She will talk about what the naming of the school means to her and another family relative, Roz Lawson.
