Students and families in the Westerville City School District are invited to the annual First Time Riders event 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 30 at Whittier Elementary, 130 E. Walnut St.
The First Time Riders event, which first launched in 2008 and is organized by the district’s Transportation Department, provides students and families an opportunity to become familiar with and acclimated to a school bus and the MyVan vehicle.
Attendees can explore a school bus and MyVan, learn about bus safety, ride in a bus or MyVan with their parent/guardian, learn about school bus mechanics through hands-on activities and meet Buster the Bus. The event is open to any student who might ride a bus or MyVan for the first time or who is apprehensive about the school transportation experience.
