As a tribute to his late wife and former Westerville North High School teacher Natalie J. Schaublin, Mike Schaublin is walking 56,000 steps (or 28 miles) across Westerville on Saturday, April 24 — the two-year anniversary of her passing from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She was 56.

Schaublin wanted to honor Natalie and their love of walks as well as raise money for the Natalie Schaublin Memorial Scholarship Fund. For those interested in donating, family members will be stationed at the WNHS parking lot from noon to 2 p.m. (In the event of rain, the family will either be in the building or near the front doors to collect donations.)

Schaublin is expected to pass the high school at the end of his walk around 2-2:30 p.m.; Those interested in joining him for the last half mile of his walk can catch up with him then.

Those interested in donating to the scholarship fund can also send checks to the following address:

Please include “Natalie J. Schaublin Memorial Scholarship Fund” in the memo line.
