Genoa Middle School’s Mathcounts Team Excels at Regional Chapter Competition

The Genoa Middle School Mathcounts team fared exceptionally well at the Regional Chapter competition held Saturday, February 10 at Columbus State Community College, where more than 500 students competed.

Representing the school were students A.J. Boyd, Max Rojanasakdakul, Alicia Deng, Sidney Choo and Rohan Mawalkar.  Boyd was awarded first place in the individual rankings and Mawalkar came in fourth. 

Genoa also received a third place ranking in the Team Round competition (Boyd, Mawalkar, Deng and Rojanasakdakul.)  These four students have qualified to compete at the State Level Mathcounts competition on March 10.  The team was coached by Annie Ghosh.

The Mathcounts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides engaging math programs to U.S. middle school students of all ability levels in order to build confidence and improve attitudes towards math and problem solving.
