The lightsaber demonstration by Thomas Amoroso was popular with Genoa students.

Students in Julie McSwords’ 7th grade Science classes at Genoa Middle School were captivated by guest presenter/parent Thomas Amoroso, who shared his expertise about how he builds lightsabers.  Amoroso explained how the science of LED lighting, circuits, light reflection, refraction and energy transformations are involved in making a lightsaber function.  Amoroso shared simple fencing techniques, as seen in the Star Wars movies, and allowed the pupils to practice those moves using the lightsabers.
